Drawing a cartoon style hand holding pen stylus!

Time lapse video of new drawing I did yesterday evening. I sketched up a rough design and stored the image away to work on when the opportunity presented itself. I wanted to see how long it would take to create the design from start to finish. It took about 20 minutes to complete.

Superhero sketch!

A simple sketch of a superhero character created in the moment. I feel sometimes I could do this in my sleep. Creating these drawings help to keep me inspired and motivated.

Finding purpose in my creative journey!

As artists and creative professionals, we’re motivated to make art and get it out to the world. There is something special that drives us to pick up a pencil or paintbrush and start creating what will become a work of art. For me, being an artist has helped me to learn to appreciate the way in which I’m able to express myself and communicate visually what is going on inside of my head and in my imagination. Being an artist has helped to give me an outlet for my creativity and even boost my self confidence. I’ve been drawing and making art for over 40 years and am thankful that I’m still excited and passionate about being creative. My journey has been every bit the constant learning process. Everything I know about art has been because of my persistence to learn and adapt to whatever challenges come my way. I’m completely self-taught and have acquired most of my knowledge through just trial and error. When I wanted to learn to draw, I grabbed some paper and a pencil and went to work. When I wanted to learn how to airbrush but knew NOTHING at all about the medium, I jumped in and just went for it. When I needed to make the move to digital art and graphic design, I did everything I could to learn whatever was needed to get me going. In other words , I didn’t wait around for a teacher or someone to help me, I made it happen! This year I will be celebrating my 50th birthday and I honestly feel like I’m just scratching the surface when it comes to my true artistic potential. When I pick up a pencil, I feel like there’s nothing that I cannot draw and that feeling is what gives me my inspiration to never give up on my talent and dreams to see myself living the life of a successful artist/ entrepreneur. I  hope to one day be an inspiration to other aspiring artists and want to do all that I can to inspire the next generation of artists. #keepdrawing!

Draw!

This says it all! This is how I got started as an artist, grabbing a pencil and paper and using nothing but my imagination to fuel my desire to create something. Whether it’s digital or traditional media, use the tools to get out your ideas and express yourself.

Working in Adobe Draw!

Some new character art created in my Adobe Illustrator Draw app! This is an awesome app, didn’t take me long to start drawing and putting ideas down.

I got a quick burst of inspiration and wanted to create some spontaneous art.
Just line art and color.

More character art!

My latest time-lapse video of an original character design I did a few weeks ago. Love the work flow I get in Procreate and the ease with which I can easily go from simple rough sketch to finished design.

Princess Leia Procreate illustration, complete!

https://youtu.be/-8N-HyG_SxE
My Princess Leia digital illustration is done. I tried something different for the background. I usually just throw in a full color fill in the entire background layer, but I wanted to try using one of the custom paint brushes and just sort of paint behind the character art. I’m happy with the effect and have added it to my other completed character drawings.

Drawing in Procreate! Princess Leia

Making progress on my Leia design. I’ve started laying down colors and it’s coming along pretty good. Next I’ll probably start laying down some shadows and then work on the highlights.

My logo design process! Pt. 1

https://youtu.be/RHhfg-PGQT4
I’ve started work on a new logo design for Software Solutions and decided to do a video series on my logo design process. My process has changed over time as I’ve grown smarter AND wiser in terms of  improving and streamlining my work flow. There are different ways to go about making logos and every artist /graphic designer has their own methods to get the work rolling. At this stage, I just need to start getting any and all ideas down in my moleskine sketchbook. Nothing is off limits. I’ll try to fill up at least one page with illustrations before I stop to review what I’ve done. In part 2, I will show the ideas that I think have the most potential to become an awesome logo design.

Zombie artwork finally finished!

I finally finished my new zombie design! Created completely in the Procreate app on my iPad Pro! This app is great! I can’t say enough good things about it. Still scratching the surface as far as using the features but I’m getting there. As I move foreword as an artist and creative professional, being able to streamline my workflow is very important. I don’t like being hindered by having to take alot of time learning new software and buying more equipment. The only hang up I’ve had is when I went to Kinko’s to print out a copy of my design, I had a hard time using the Dropbox feature at the self-serve printer station. Maybe it was just a bad connection issue, not sure.  Here is the color print.

Staying Inspired! Finding your motivation

https://youtu.be/0EpUM2ha2bw
Here is a video I made while thinking about the events of the past few days and the need to stay inspired and find the motivation to keep moving forward. Inspiration can be found  all around us. Read a book, take a course or class, draw a picture, anything that will help to spark your inspiration and keep you being the best version of yourself that anyone’s  ever seen!
